Campaign Manager

About the role 

 

​MPA is seeking an experienced Campaign Manager to lead the strategy, development, and execution of multi-channel communication and marketing campaigns that advance public health priorities. You will translate audience research and public health science into integrated campaigns that build awareness, shift attitudes, and drive measurable behavior change, managing the full campaign lifecycle from formative research and strategy through creative development, media planning, implementation, and evaluation across digital, broadcast, print, social, and experiential channels. As a campaign leader, you will serve as the connective tissue between strategy, creative, media, and client teams to ensure every campaign is audience-centered, evidence-based, mission-aligned, and delivered on time and on budget.

The responsibilities of this position include:

  • Lead the strategic development and day-to-day management of public health and behavior-change integrated marketing communications campaigns from research to planning and implementation to evaluation 

  • Translate formative research, audience segmentation, and public health science into clear campaign strategies, creative briefs, and messaging frameworks 

  • Direct and coordinate cross-functional teams, including creative, media, research, and content staff, to ensure cohesive, on-strategy campaign execution across digital, broadcast, print, social, and experiential channels 

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for government clients and internal leadership, providing strategic counsel, status updates, and issue resolution throughout the campaign lifecycle 

  • Manage campaign timelines, workplans, and deliverables, identifying risks and course-correcting to keep initiatives on track 

  • Oversee earned and owned social media planning and placement in partnership with media and digital teams to maximize reach among priority audiences 

  • Lead message and creative development, campaign performance monitoring, and reporting, using data and evaluation findings to refine strategies

  • Ensure all campaign materials align with client brand guidelines, federal plain language and accessibility requirements (e.g., Section 508 compliance), and applicable review and clearance processes 

  • Mentor and guide junior campaign and account staff, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture 

  • Monitor emerging trends in public health communication, social and behavior-change marketing, digital media, and artificial intelligence-enabled tools to keep campaign approaches current and effective

 

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field

  • 8+ years of experience managing integrated marketing communications plans in federal government public health settings 

  • Demonstrated experience applying health communication, social marketing, or behavior-change theory to campaign strategy and audience engagement 

  • Strong track record managing client or government relationships, including translating strategic direction into actionable work plans 

  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously

  • Strong analytical skills, with experience using campaign performance data, audience research, and evaluation findings to inform integrated marketing communications plans 

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills 

  • Working knowledge of federal contracting, review/clearance processes, plain language, and accessibility requirements (e.g., Section 508) 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. federal government security clearance
